A £2.75 million improvement programme will spruce up homes
for residents on a Walsall estate over the next five years.
Tenants on the Beechdale estate will benefit from a range of
work, such as new kitchens, bathrooms, boiler replacements and
electrical re-wires.
Beechdale Community Housing plans to spend almost £550,000
on its properties each year until 2016.
Work this year will include 30 electrical re-wires, 90 heating
replacements, 50 kitchens fitted and 100 new bathrooms.
Maintenance and improvement work over coming years will comprise
external decoration of properties, decoration of communal areas,
boiler replacements, new kitchens and bathrooms, electrical
re-wiring, fencing and paving.
June Moriarty, Chief Executive of Beechdale Community Housing,
said: "As part of our commitment to building a better Beechdale, we
are keen to invest in our homes and keep them up to a good standard
for our tenants.
"We aim to effectively maintain and improve properties - and the
estate environment as a whole - to meet the needs and aspirations
of current and future residents.
"As this programme of work is rolled out, we will also involve
tenants in deciding what needs renewing in their home, and when and
how it is carried out."
Staff from Beechdale Community Housing will liaise closely with
tenants to discuss what improvements need doing before work begins
on each property.
The association's repairs contractor, Morrison Facilities
Services, will carry out the programme of work.
