Education company Wildgoose has launched a range of resources to
encourage children to sing, dance and play musical instruments.
Early Years resources include the popular 'Sack of Songs'
containing words for age appropriate songs as well as puppets and
masks to encourage singing and acting out of lyrics and 'Splish,
Splash Splosh' an interactive CD with reggae, rock, jazz and
calypso beats. While books and DVDs such as 'Rhythm and Pulse For
KS1' and 'Singing Games' for KS1 and KS2 support a more structured
teaching approach introducing concepts such as pitch, rhythm,
pulse, melody, singing and coordination.
"With television shows such as X Factor and Britain's Got Talent
proving to be highly popular, children are more than ever trying to
emulate the people they see on stage and screen," commented Debbie
Mousley, Product Development Coordinator at Wildgoose. "However
there is a serious side with singing and musical performance
supporting both creative and physical development while helping to
develop confidence and discipline. The national Sing Up campaign
has also raised the profile of singing in schools and reinforces
the educational value of singing."
Wildgoose also has a number of other resources available
including the 'Singing Sherlock' series of books with accompanying
CDs designed to give enjoyable and structured ways to teach music
concepts and vocal skills at KS1 and KS2 and a 'Recordable
Microphone', a must for any would-be performer. Cross-curricular
resources are also available with CDs containing songs from around
the world including foreign language lyrics.
Wildgoose has been providing resources for education for over 13
years and has grown into one of the UK's leading school suppliers.
Wildgoose is a member of the British Educational Suppliers
