Derbyshire firm Wildgoose Construction has completed a
£1.8m medical centre that will serve 15,000 patients.
The two-storey centre in Driffield, East Riding, Yorkshire,
includes a pharmacy dispensary unit, medical examination rooms,
reception areas, nursing stations, kitchens and bathrooms.
There will be eight doctors working at the surgery that replaces
the nearby outdated Bridge Street Practice.
Under-graduate and post-graduate training will also take place
at the practice in partnership with Hull York Medical School.
The centre will house accommodation for both clinical and
non-clinical staff and has been designed to achieve a BREEAM rating
of 'excellent'.
Tim Walker, managing director of Wildgoose Construction, based
in Ashover, said the firm was delighted to work with medical
developers GPI again.
He said: "This environmentally friendly construction will give
the people of Driffield a state-of-the-art medical facility, to
replace the old, outdated and cramped Bridge Street surgery.
"Our long association with GPI has successfully delivered in
excess of 15 similar medical centres throughout the region, all to
the same high standards which has enabled this development to
attain an 'excellent' BREEAM rating."
BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the leading and
most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. It
sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has
become the measure used to describe a building's environmental
performance.
