Nottingham legal firm Rothera Dowson is aiming to highlight the
benefits and legal implications of social media to businesses
across the East Midlands at a special seminar.
'SMall Talk: Social Media and the Legal Landscape' takes place
at the Curry Lounge restaurant, Upper Parliament Street,
Nottingham, on Wednesday 13 April, 11am-2:30pm.
Guests will hear from four key speakers, who will each offer
their expert views on the use of social media in the workplace.
Anton Balkitis, Rothera Dowson's motoring law specialist will
open proceedings with a talk on using social media to market a
business, highlighting his own success via blogging and
Twitter.
This will be followed by talks from employment law expert John
Buchanan and commercial litigation solicitor Daniel Harley on the
legal risks of social media from an employer's perspective and
handling online defamatory comments made against a company.
The seminar will close with a look at social media etiquette,
presented by social media expert Nik Hewitt of one of the world's
most renowned social media consultancies, Conversify.
"As well as being used socially and professionally by employees,
social media has become an important part of business marketing
strategies across the region," commented Amanda Redgate, managing
partner of Rothera Dowson. "However, many people are still unaware
of how social media can be maximised and the legal implications
associated with it.
"We hope that this seminar will help local businesses to explore
the social media opportunities available to them, whilst helping
them to avoid any unnecessary legal issues."
