Tuesday 1st March saw the opening of the new 'Ye Olde Punch Bowl
Inn' - following its recent essential restoration works, due to the
devastating post Christmas floods.
Triple Whammy - not only did the Punch Bowl suffer like many of
the regions pubs and restaurants due to the bad weather in
December, with over 10000 cancellations, but then on Boxing Day,
owner Adam Giles arrived to discover the pub ankle deep in water
due to burst pipes from his upstairs flat - this also rendering him
homeless!
Adam, who has since been working hard co-ordinating the rescue
attempt, and the recovery work, whilst living at their other pub
The Plough at Far Forest, Worcestershire comments "This has been a
real drain on all the team, who were devastated when we discovered
the flood, but all hands on deck have meant that we have managed to
re-open on schedule, with what is essentially a new pub, restored
with an old name - we have restored the original 'Ye Olde' back
into the name of this 700 year old pub, plus restored the original
damaged oak panelling in the bar, which we discovered behind the
plaster when it fell off, with new English oak."

lunch, and I've not been for a while, and I will certainly be
back". Joined by Local accountant Paul Silver of Silver and Co. "We
came just after Christmas for an event, and it was so sad to see
the devastation, but this make-over is amazing, and a great place
to bring clients". James Day of local Restaurant Marketing company
Leisure Marketing LTD, who has helped Adam with the re-launch added
"Many venues have had it tough over recent weeks and Adam and his
team have done so well to re-open as quickly as they did, and I
must congratulate him and the team on their
achievements."
