Irish dancers and musicians will be taking to the streets of
Leicester on Friday 11th March to raise money for local charity
Rainbows Hospice, as part of O'Neill's nationwide St Patrick's Day
celebrations.
'Join the Jig', now in its second year, provides the general
public with the chance to try their hand - or more importantly foot
- at a traditional Irish dance in preparation for the Emerald
Isle's most famous national celebration, St Patrick's Day.
Dancers from the Doherty School of Irish Dancing, which is based
in Leicester, will start the day by teaching customers in O'Neill's
and shoppers in Highcross Shopping Centre how to perfect the Galway
Reel, before ending the day in Humberstone Gate along with renowned
musicians, Right as Rain.
Ian Griffin, manager of O'Neill's Leicester on Loseby Lane,
said: "Join the Jig is the perfect way to kick-start our St
Patrick's Day celebrations. We're very much looking forward to
joining up with Rainbows Hospice to ensure it's not just St Patrick
that gets all the attention."
Troupes will also be visiting Liverpool, and Glasgow and Oxford
in the run up to St Patrick's Day which is on Thursday, March
17.
