Birmingham-based social enterprise Citizen Enterprises is set to help businesses of all kinds boost their online profiles with the launch of a dedicated Social Media Management Service, SMMS. Believed to be the first of its kind, the new service is designed to simplify the use of online social media marketing tools such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.

Martin Hogg, Chief Executive of Citizen Enterprises, explains: "We think many businesses, particularly the smaller ones, are missing out because they are daunted by social media. We have used social networking very effectively for a number of our own enterprises over the past five years - and learnt from our mistakes!  We're now keen to share our expertise and help others to get the most out of this exciting new medium."

Businesses that sign up to Citizen Enterprises' new Social Media Management Service will be allocated a social media manager and receive a consultation and tailored social media strategy. This will be based around a quantity of monthly credits which can be used in a variety of ways - from Tweets and Facebook updates to blog posts and YouTube videos. The standard package will include a Facebook page, LinkedIn profile, Twitter page, YouTube channel and regular activity reports, but businesses can choose to add a number of additional services such as Digg and StumbleUpon.  Alternatively, they can opt for training in how to do it all for themselves.

"We think of the internet as being like a vast ocean in which you find all types of social media, websites and widgets," says Martin. "It's so huge that many businesses are still sitting at the water's edge spectating instead of jumping in and enjoying swimming around.  Using social media can be a great way to increase visibility, improve website rankings and attract customers.  You might even net some new suppliers, partners and employees as well."
