The deputy Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mike Lowe, is to be
the President of this year's Shropshire County Show.
Mr Lowe was invited to take on the post at the West Midlands
Agricultural Society Annual General Annual General Meeting last
night.
A partner at Tranter Lowe Chartered Accountants, Mr Lowe CBE DL
is also the President of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust and
Chairman of the Shropshire Society in London.
After accepting the invite to take on the role he said he was
looking forward to carrying out the duties of President and said he
also wished to help the show continue successfully into the
future.
He said: "I have been involved in a lot of things but I have had
a wonderful life and great happiness out of them, I have been to
some wonderful occasions here.
"As well as carrying out my duties on the two days of the show I
shall also try to help you move forward into the future because I
feel it would be a very sad thing if Shropshire does not have the
wonderful show that they have had here for so many years. I
dedicate myself to supporting it."
Neale Sadler, acting Chairman of the Society, said: "As
President this year we have a man who is committed to a lot of
organisations in Shropshire. We are very lucky to have secured a
President of this calibre."
Mr Sadler also thanked outgoing President Thomas Acton who he
said "filled the role admirably" and brought "charisma and
character" to the 2010 show.
Tickets are now available from the website at a cost of
£10.00 for adults, £3.00 for children and £8.00

On show days - May 14 and 15 - tickets will be available on the
