A new director has been appointed to the board of Broad Street's
Business Improvement District.
Richard Marsh, the General Manager of Novotel Birmingham Centre,
will join the 13-strong team of directors at the BID, the
not-for-profit organisation that supports and promotes the
entertainment district of Birmingham.
Richard has successfully run the Novotel for over two years,
through its ongoing refurbishment and to see it named Hotel of the
Year at the recent Best of Broad Street Awards.
Speaking about his appointment Richard said: "Having arrived
back in Birmingham two years ago it was obvious to me the impact
that the BID had made on Broad Street and the surrounding area.
Having been brought up in the Midlands I was very familiar with the
city and in particular some of the issues surrounding the
development of Birmingham and Broad Street.
"Always being keen to get involved with the community
surrounding the hotels I have run in the past I felt that being
involved with the BID would be the ideal opportunity to offer some
ideas and also get to know, and even learn, from those that are
established in the city.
"Having seen BID2 launched last year I have been very excited
about the opportunity to join the board and influence the ideas and
ethos of the organization."
Gary Taylor, Chairman of the Broad Street BID added: "The BID
has made, and will continue to make a great impact to the Broad
Street area of the city. Being part of the board of directors
provides our stakeholders with the opportunity to shape the
direction of the BID going forward and we welcome Richard to be
part of this and our exciting future."
