National law firm Mills & Reeve has been included in the
annual Sunday Times "100 Best Companies to Work For" survey for the
eighth year running. The firm, which has one of its six offices in
Birmingham, was ranked in 90th place and was the only top 50 law
firm to be included in the top 100, competing against a record
1,165 organisations who took part this year and one of only five
law firms featured.
The firm was praised by employees for "good remuneration,
challenging work with plenty of opportunities to grow
professionally and personally", and this coupled with "a friendly,
supportive environment" made the firm a "great place to work". 80
per cent of employees were proud to work for the firm.
According to the survey, employees are happy with the balance
between work and home life (67 per cent) and felt fairly paid
compared to others in the organisation (60 per cent). The results
received in terms of pay and conditions gave the firm a place in
the top 50 on the issue of "Fair Deal".
The survey highlighted the generous benefits available for Mills
& Reeve staff including time off for moving house, bonuses for
all members of staff at the end of the financial year and rewards
for good work or taking on additional workload. The firm also
operates a flexible benefits scheme where staff can buy more
holiday, participate in a wellness programme and obtain childcare
vouchers.
Guy Hinchley, managing partner said: "We are thrilled to have
attained the Sunday Times top 100 ranking for the eighth year in a
row. The survey revealed that 90 per cent of our staff 'go out of
their way to provide a great service to customers' - a top 30
result. Our philosophy of infectious ambition is about getting the
best results for our clients and the only way to do this is through
our dedicated, talented staff".
Sandy Boyle, director of HR added: "As a firm we strive to
provide an environment where people are able to do their best work
and to fulfil their potential. To be listed among one of the best
employers in the country is a fantastic achievement. Our in-house
training is available to all employees and the results tell us that
we were ranked 26th for making use of our employees' skills. The
fact that more than half of our employees have worked here for at
least five years is testament to this".
