A Shrewsbury accountant is putting himself to the ultimate test
to raise funds for a children's charity.
Ian Middleton, who works in the tax department at Dyke Yaxley
Chartered Accountants, in Old Potts Way, is set to run this year's
London Marathon in April.
He will be joined by his wife, Louise, and the couple will be
running to raise money for Get Kids Going! - a charity which
supports young disabled athletes.
"I ran the London Marathon in 2007 for the same charity and said
I would only run it again if my wife ran it with me, so that's why
we're taking part this year," said Ian.
"On my previous attempt I also ran for Get Kids Going! and it's
such a worthwhile charity that we have decided to support them
again this time around.
"We're aiming to raise around £4000 and have been
overwhelmed by the generous support we have already received."
Get Kids Going! is supporting budding paralympians in the build
up to the London 2012 Paralympic Games and beyond.
"It focuses on helping disabled young athletes, but it also
provides manual wheelchairs for children to use every day, and any
equipment that they outgrow is recycled to other children," said
Ian.
Dyke Yaxley managing director, Helen Thomas, said she was very
impressed by Ian's commitment to his chosen charity.
"Ian is dedicated to raising funds for all kinds of charities,
and organises annual badminton marathons for our staff.
"Running the London Marathon is a huge challenge, but we're
confident that with their training and enthusiasm Ian and Louise
will do very well."
