housing development
Construction services company Mansell has won a £4.2
million contract for a landmark housing project in Brownhills for
Walsall Housing Group.
The canal-side development in Brownhills High Street will set
the standard for future homes in the area, providing 47 two-bedroom
apartments. Four ground floor properties have been specifically
designed to accommodate people with disabilities. Landscaping and a
gated car park will complement the scheme.
Mansell will use local labour to support the economy of the
borough, and will also offer construction training
opportunities.
Mansell's divisional manager of Partnership Housing in the
Midlands and North, Simon Liversage, said, "We are delighted to be
involved in such an important development and to have the
opportunity to support the borough's economy through training and
local engagement."
Carole Wildman, Walsall Housing Group's director of regeneration
and development, said, "This is a gateway development with an
exciting design which cleverly complements the surroundings and
makes a bold statement. Artists impressions show it will be a
significant building with a definite street presence. It's sure to
become a local landmark."
The project has just started on site and will be completed in
May 2012.
