A free toolkit on producing tenant annual reports in the new era
of co-regulation has been launched.
The toolkit for housing, tenant engagement and communications
professionals has been produced by social housing communications
consultancy, Word Association.
2010 was the first year housing providers had to follow new
guidelines for reports in response to the Tenant Services
Authority's new regulatory framework.
Chief executive Mark Thomas said: "In the new era of
co-regulation tenant annual reports will be more important than
ever before. The reports are now the centrepiece of self-regulation
providing the best opportunity to improve tenant scrutiny.
"2010 saw housing providers' first response to the new
guidelines. This year will enable them to build on those
foundations to produce more meaningful documents that really do
keep tenants informed and involved.
The toolkit includes examples of fully compliant, best practice,
award-winning reports from last year as well as sections
covering:
• The guidance
• Local service offers
• Tenant involvement
• Performance information
• Feedback from 2010
This toolkit follows the success of last year's guide which was
used by over 250 housing professionals. Word Association produced
20 reports including facilitating tenant events, writing, designing
and printing them. They won a tenant involvement award for one of
the reports and were also asked to assess reports for their
compliance with the guidelines. Mark Thomas recently presented at
the NHF's Communications and Marketing Conference about tenant
annual reports.
