A cohort of managers from Goodyear Dunlop have begun a brand new
management course at Wolverhampton University in conjunction with
the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Staff from across all
areas of the tyre manufacture and sales business, which employs
1000 people in the West Midlands, have started the CMI accredited
course for first-time managers.
Training and Occupational Development Manager Erica Stocks said:
"We recognise that beginning to manage other people is a
significant step in anyone's career, which is why we provide
training to support that transition. The initial two day programme
is delivered in house as people take up their new roles, they are
then enrolled on the formal programme at the next available
intake."
The 12-month Goodyear Dunlop programme has been developed in
conjunction with Wolverhampton University. The company's national
management and distribution operations are based in Birmingham and
it has a manufacturing facility in Wolverhampton.
Market Research Intelligence Manager Hitesh Mistry said: "The
training we've done so far is already providing us with an
understanding of why we have certain management systems in place;
every procedure has a purpose. This course will help me learn new
management skills and because the programme is tailored to our
organisation, we will be taught practical examples that fit exactly
to our corporate way of working."
