A thriving firm of employment law specialists in the West Midlands is expanding with the appointment of a new solicitor.

Rachel Seymour has joined De Marco Hunter, based near Coventry, as an employment solicitor to help manage its increasing caseload from commercial and individual clients in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

With Rachel's specific expertise in offering training in employment law to companies, De Marco Hunter is looking at launching a human resources consultancy later this year.

The planned expansion is also in response to more companies needing guidance in avoiding potential legislative pitfalls relating to employment issues in the current economic climate, such as redundancy and reduced working.

She said: "With my training experience, I am able to provide practical advice to human resources personnel and other professionals that minimises risks to a company.

"For example, I can offer guidance throughout a disciplinary process so the company is fully compliant with current legislation."

The 26-year-old University of Leicester graduate joins De Marco Hunter from a large commercial firm in Stoke-on-Trent where she was responsible for building up the employment law department.

Rachel, who lives in Lutterworth, said: "I am delighted to be working for De Marco Hunter because they solely specialise in employment law and I am looking forward to contributing to a firm that is up and coming."

De Marco Hunter has grown rapidly since it was established by employment and business affairs solicitor Sandra Garlick in 2007. Within three months, the practice had moved from her Coventry home to offices on the Middlemarch Business Park, Baginton.

Sandra, who is Principal of the company, said: "I started the firm at the start of the economic downturn and yet we have grown, seeing an increase in turnover and profit every year, mainly through word-of-mouth and recommendations.

"We have noticed a big influx in work since the latter part of last year and Rachel's appointment marks an exciting expansion for the firm."

The company is planning to expand the team further by recruiting a commercial paralegal within the next year.
