Businesses throughout Staffordshire are being invited to attend
an environmental exhibition in a bid to help boost their green
credentials - and save money.
The free one day event on Tuesday 29 March 2011 at Britannia
Stadium is hosted by local office supplies company Fenns with
keynote speaker, Broadcaster and Environmental campaigner Professor
David Bellamy OBE and is aimed at highlighting the environmental
benefits of single source supply.
The event will be a mix of seminars and an exhibition and will
provide a comprehensive forum for demonstration, education and
information where visitors are invited to explore the latest
developments in sustainability, procurement efficiencies and
reducing the supply chain. With David Bellamy OBE as the keynote
speaker, presentations will take place from leading industry
experts in eco-planning including Knights solicitors llp, Baker
Tilly, The Oceans Group, Greenworks, American Golf and PI
Consultancy. They will deliver talks on everything from
environmental law, to tax saving opportunities through to the
benefits of reducing the supply chain, recycling and social
responsibility and how to persuade colleagues to adopt the green
mantle.
In addition to the speakers, Fenns will be offering all
attendees a one off opportunity to meet key manufacturers face to
face, sampling both new and existing products from companies such
as Fellowes, Brother, Konica Minolta, Dormy and Beswicks Paper to
name but a few.
Fenns Commercial Director Louise Harris comments: "The day will
be designed to educate business, industry and households on aspects
of introducing sustainable and environmentally more responsible
behavior at work and at home. We don't just want to lecture
businesses about creating less waste and finding a green energy
supplier we want people to explore new ideas, emergent technologies
and solutions available to improve environmental performance,
reduce our collective environmental 'footprint', reduce climate
change impacts and contribute to a healthier environment."
She adds: "This is about making businesses think about the
bigger picture and showing them what they can do both day to day
and more long term. There is a huge surge of interest in
environmental issues and growing mainstream community awareness
that action and change is needed, but consumers and businesses are
largely not sure what steps they can take to contribute.
So, we are hoping that this Exhibition will give local
businesses the knowledge to not just change behavior but change
processes to build a more sustainable, cost efficient
business."
Speaking at the event, Mel Parnell of Midlands company, The
Oceans Group added: "This is a new event for the area and already
the interest has been unbelievable and I am sure it will be a great
success. For my presentation I am hoping to show how print
management solutions can not only save money but more importantly
show that we can help clients 'reduce their carbon footprint' and
save money at the same time."
Fellow speaker Andy Bailey, Head of Energy at Knights solicitors
llp comments: "Knights solicitors are heavily involved with
clients' projects across the range of renewable energy sources -
wind, solar, ground source heat, etc., and are happy to be invited
to take part in Fenn's Environmental Exhibition. We hope that the
day will serve to bring people together to exchange ideas and
know-how and to reinforce the important initiatives that are being
pursued in this region in relation to the low carbon future."
Louise Harris concludes: "Businesses are being required more and
more to address their environmental responsibilities. We are hoping
this event will help demonstrate how those responsibilities can be
integrated with other management systems making them really look at
the benefits of single source supply and reducing the supply
chain."
