Global real estate services firm, DTZ has been instructed to
find an investor for the Banks's Stadium, home of Walsall Football
Club.
DTZ's Birmingham investment agency has been appointed by Suffolk
Life to secure a purchaser for the freehold interest in the
stadium. The stadium, with a capacity of over 11,000, sits on a
site of circa 17.06 acres, and includes all associated conferencing
facilities, The Saddlers Supporter's Club, an all weather training
facility and extensive advertising hoardings.
The site is extremely prominently located, fronting the M6
motorway and close to the RAC Centre, and includes the 8,396 sq ft
'M6 Spectacular', the largest permanent purpose built free standing
advertising structure in the UK.
Bank's Stadium is currently let to Walsall Football Club Ltd for
a further 17.25 years with options to extend on an annual RPI
linked rental lease, with rental income from the League One club
and three telecoms masts totalling £466,752 per
annum.
A freehold sale of the Banks's Stadium site will only see a
change in the ownership of the freehold interest and will have no
implications on the ownership or operation of the football
club.
Nick Allan, Senior Director in investment agency at DTZ,
commented: "This is a unique opportunity to acquire the freehold
interest in the home of Walsall Football Club as well as a highly
prominent landmark investment fronting the M6 motorway. Walsall FC
has a long and proud history on and off the pitch and in recent
years has prided itself in developing commercial income, in
particular its advertising and conferencing and events
business."
