Members of staff at Hallow based technology Postcode Anywhere,
proved that they are never too busy to have fun and raise money for
a good cause at the same time.
The team at Postcode Anywhere dressed up as their favourite
comedy characters to raise money for Comic Relief's Red Nose
Day.
A stream of well known comedy celebrities visited Postcode
Anywhere's Hallow premises in aid of one of the biggest biennial
fund raising events in the charity calendar.
Characters included Laurel and Hardy, Groucho Marks, Harry Hill,
Victor Meldrew, Moss from the IT Crowd , who felt quite at home,
Father Ted, Mrs Doyle and Sister Assumpta. Forming part of the
comedy line up was also Arnold Rimmer, Barbara from The Good Life,
Arthur Dent, Woody and Garth who popped in from Wayne's World, to
name but a few.
The day was a mix of parody, farce and slapstick with characters
such as everyone's favourite punk, Viv from The Young Ones, Where's
Wally, the Blues Brothers, surly school girl Lauren Cooper, the 118
runner and SpongeBob SquarePants, all joining in the fun. Even Sir
Jimmy Saville OBE put in a rare personal appearance.
Red Nose Day is all about having a great laugh while raising
money that can make a serious difference to and even transform
people's lives. The day's fund raising activities raised over
£74 million with money still rolling in.
Postcode Anywhere's managing director, Guy Mucklow said: "I
think it's very important for businesses to encourage staff to
participate and 'do their bit' for Comic Relief as the event should
be far more meaningful than having fun in the workplace and
enjoying a welcome break from daily routine. I think it is a way of
making us all focus on the terrible hardships people both here in
the UK and overseas are forced to endure.
"The recent crisis in Japan makes us all realise how fragile
life can be and also how powerful the forces of nature are and that
tragedy does not necessarily discriminate. I think this is why we
should never be complacent or judgmental over the misfortune of
others."
Postcode Anywhere's team raised over £250, which was match
funded by the company to make a respectable £500 in
total.
