Employees from Domestic & General (D&G) have launched
their Comic Relief fundraising campaign with a quiz held at The
Canal House bar in Nottingham.
Around 80 employees from the Talbot Street call centre paid
£2.50 to join in the quiz which raised over £200 for
the charity.
The quiz is just the start of many planned fundraising events at
D&G which includes a dress down day for employees (who pay a
pound each for the privilege) and a giant scaletrix challenge.
As well as these fundraising activities over 150 volunteers,
made up of employees and their friends, will be taking calls
between 7pm and midnight on Red Nose Day on 18th March.
Deborah Martin, site operations manager at D&G, said: "It's
such a worthy charity and we are all really keen to get involved.
Even a small amount can make a huge difference to people's
lives. For example, £8 could pay for ten Ugandan children to
be tested for malaria so they can get a quick diagnosis and receive
life-saving treatment, so we are hoping that we'll get plenty of
calls to pledge whatever they can afford."
The phone volunteers will also have the chance to take part in a
charity raffle with some great prizes up for grabs donated by local
businesses, Chino Latino and Thorntons. Prizes have also been
donated by a number of D&G's Clients including Comet and
Sky.
Deborah added: "We were delighted to get such a great turnout on
quiz night and we are very much looking forward to Red Nose Day
which I'm sure will be great fun. We're grateful to those who have
donated prizes which I know will be great incentives for our
volunteers to raise even more money."
