Derby's Derwent Business Centre was the spectacular backdrop for
an exhibition by local artist Juliet Hemingray.
The imposing Victorian building, once a huge railway warehouse,
provided an appropriate sense of scale for an artist whose work
usually adorns church walls.
Juliet has been based at the centre since 1993, but this is the
first time she has mounted a show there. She said: "I am a very
proud tenant of the Derwent Business Centre and it was wonderful to
see my art and designs on display here."
Juliet is contributing to the décor of the building with
a selection of black and white photographs on level two and a
commission to paint a series of railway and Derby themed paintings
for the ground floor.
The Derwent Business Centre forms part of sustainable developer
Blueprint's £18m investment portfolio. As well as owning a
number of historic buildings in Derby, Blueprint also has plans for
an exciting mixed-use development, Sadler Square, in the heart of
City's Cathedral Quarter
Juliet Hemingray exhibits regularly all over the UK, and her
work is to be found in churches worldwide. Her paintings and
designs are based on biblical themes and Celtic symbols, and she
also embroiders priests' robes and preaching scarves.
Upcoming exhibitions include Mirfield, Oxford, Nottingham and
Peterborough. For dates and more information, visit
