A Derbyshire social media marketing company has won a two-year
contract to promote a Lincolnshire seaside resort.
Status Social Media Marketing will be building and running the
Facebook and Twitter accounts for Cleethorpes as well as blogging
about the east coast town.
It's a significant contract for the Derby-based company which
only set up at the beginning of this year.
"We will become the voice of Cleethorpes on social media," said
co-owner Mark Saxby. "I was brought up in North East Lincolnshire
so I know the area well."
Mark (39) left his job as the News and Sports Editor at BBC
Radio Derby to set up Status with friend Martin Broadhurst. As well
as managing social media accounts, they also conduct social media
marketing seminars and one-to-one coaching.
"With around 600 million people on Facebook and 200 million on
Twitter, there is a huge audience out there untouched by
traditional advertising," said Martin (25). "Through social media
we can target those people who would be likely to visit Cleethorpes
- and those who haven't been for some time but need reminding what
a great place it is."
As well as winning the Cleethorpes contract Status Social Media
Marketing has recently run a social media marketing seminar at
Derby Quad for the Derbyshire Enterprise Agency.
"Any doubts that myself and Martin had made the right decision
to start the business disappeared on the first day," said Mark. "We
were contacted by a Yorkshire craftmaker who'd heard a rumour we
were setting up - she wanted to pay us to do her social media. A
few days later, our second customer got in touch after hearing the
same thing. Since then we have just gone from strength to
strength."
