A local company received national recognition this evening at
the Medilink UK Awards by winning the top prize for Outstanding
Achievement. Derby-based Quadralene received the winner's trophy at
the Medilink UK awards 2011- an annual event that celebrates the
latest technologies, outstanding business achievements and
international success across the UK Life Sciences sector. The
company is a member of Medilink East Midlands and has received
significant business support from the Healthcare and Bioscience
iNet which is funded by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda)
and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Quadralene is an independently owned company that produces a
wide range of high-quality, specialised, cleaning detergents and
disinfectants for the healthcare, dental, food, automotive and
micro-electronics markets. The company's vision is to be
acknowledged as a leader in cleaning and infection control
products.
Ian Barr, director of the Healthcare and Bioscience iNet has
worked with Quadralene for several years: "This Company exemplifies
what it means to stay ahead in business in very competitive trading
times. Facing relentless downward price pressure on margins in the
automotive sector, Quadralene successfully diversified into
healthcare with an innovative range of products. Their journey
started with financial support from UKTI to visit Medica, the
world's leading international medical technology show in Germany.
There, they confirmed there was a great opportunity in the
healthcare market. With further help and support from the iNet,
they got to know the healthcare sector well and developed their
innovative product range."
Darren Clark, Medilink East Midlands CEO, said: "There are many
East Midlands' companies facing declining traditional markets and
Quadralene is a shining example of how an innovative approach and
willingness to take on new challenges, with the right guidance, can
open up new opportunities in the growing healthcare market. It has
been a pleasure to support them in their transition and we are
delighted that they won the top prize for Outstanding
Achievement."
Sponsored by the Association of British Healthcare Industries
(ABHI), which promotes the rapid adoption of medical technologies,
the Medilink UK awards ceremony attracted leading figures from the
Life Sciences sector, UK Government, research institutes and
overseas organisations.
The Life Sciences sector is one of the country's true growth
sectors, highlighted by UK Government as a priority - providing a
clear stimulus for growth and nation-wide wealth creation.
Tony Davis, Medilink UK Chairman, said: "Winning a Medilink UK
Award is a huge professional honour and companies such as
Quadralene are the ones that will help the UK economy thrive once
again, pioneering new technologies that can meet the healthcare
needs of our society in the future."
