How do reduce car insurance for young drivers will be one of the
subjects under discussion at a national meeting of road safety
experts being held at a Shropshire driver retraining organisation
tomorrow (Wednesday, March 16).
Telematics which reveal how a teenage driver is handling a car
could be the answer to lower insurance premiums for many young
drivers with the details being revealed to members of the
Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers (AIRSO) at their
meeting at the TTC Group's newly extended HQ in Telford on March
16.
The TTC Group, of Hadley Park, Telford, aim to cut road deaths
and injuries by educating drivers. They are the UK's largest
provider of re-training courses for motorists putting on thousands
of classes at 148 nationwide venues each year. TTC instructors
teach safer driving techniques on behalf of Police and councils in
speed awareness, drink drive rehabilitation and also driver
alertness courses for those motorists committing minor
offences.
TTC road safety consultant Colin Pettener, a former county road
safety officer, said it was only the second time that Airso had
held one of its monthly meetings in Shropshire.
"We are very honoured by members of this national organisation
who will be coming to Shropshire to listen to a number of speakers
so that they can share the latest information on road safety."
Other speakers include Simon Baugh, director of TTC Automotive,
who will talk about the disproportionate increased risks of driving
for work faced by small businesses and raising their awareness.
Kevin Delaney, of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), and
former Airso chairman Lyn Morris will also speak at the event along
with TTC Group chairman Graham Wynn and TTC's Colin Pettener who
will talk about the driver retraining programmes.
"Anyone in the transport industry who would like to come along
as a guest is welcome to attend if they can contact me first on
0845 270 4380," said Mr Pettener.
