celebrates his half marathon success
A Shropshire man has raced at the world-famous Silverstone track
- but without a racing car.
James Manders, who works for Pughs of Shrewsbury, took part in
the Silverstone half marathon at the iconic venue, and has raised
over £500 for Childline and the NSPCC, to help children who
need vital support and advice.
"I ran because one of my friends from university challenged me
to take part, and five of us decided to give it a go, all raising
money for different charities," said James, who completed the
course in one hour 50 minutes.
"It was quite a daunting challenge as it was not only my first
ever half marathon, but also the very first formal running event
I've taken part in."
James is well-known for his commitment to various causes and has
been a volunteer for the Red Cross for the past six years.
Pughs managing director, Peter Forrest, said: "We are very proud
of James and his commitment to raising funds for such a worthwhile
charity as Childline and the NSPCC.
"As a company we are dedicated to supporting local causes and
organisations, and James is a credit to our team as he gives up
many hours of his own time to help other people."
