Chance for businesses to find perfect MaTE

Businesses in Derbyshire can find out more about behavioural training and how it can benefit them at a free half-day seminar on 25 March.

Organised by Develop Training, which specialises in providing technical skills training in a range of industries including utilities and facilities management, the sessions are designed to explain the concept of behavioural training, introduce the MaTE (Managing a Technical Environment) training programme and give those attending an insight into how and why it works.

MaTE has been developed over the past two years and works by combining management techniques such as leadership and communication with technical skills. No other training course offers this combination, which is proven to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Laura Knowlton, MaTE Training Consultant explained, "Whether they realise it or not everyone has ingrained behaviours and attitudes that have developed throughout their lifetimes and that influence how they react in certain situations and with each other. Learning to identify, understand and manage these traits through specific training courses such as MaTE allows those attitudes to be challenged and changed for good. By combining technical training with management techniques people begin to understand how and why they think and act the way they do.

"MaTE immerses employees in an environment that mimics an actual industry situation and through real life examples teaches them how to manage their behaviour and that of others in different situations. This gives them the confidence to become better managers when they return to work."

The free event will provide an overview of the course and explain how it can be modified to address particular issues or achieve specific goals within a business. Delegates will be given the chance to participate in a training session to demonstrate how it works in practice, and shown real life examples of businesses that have benefited from putting employees through the MaTE programme.

The half-day taster session will take place at Develop Training's Derby Centre, Ascot Drive, DE24 8GW on 25 March, beginning at 10am and ending at 2.30pm. Attendance is free but places must be booked in advance by calling Tiffany Wilkinson on 0800 876 6708.
