Nature lovers can witness the seasonal changes of a Midlands
stately homes estate in a guided walk taking in areas not normally
open to the public.
Weston Park on the Shropshire / Staffordshire border famous for
hosting world leaders and royalty invites walkers on a three mile
Spring Walk on Sunday April 10th.
The discovery morning walk will provide an ideal opportunity to
admire the buds of spring as bulbs and wildlife begin to
emerge.
Weston Park's Head Gardener Martin Gee, who will lead the walk,
has firm roots in the stately homes heritage, just like the plants
and trees he looks after. He comes from a generation of
horticulturists who have lived and worked on the estate since the
early 1800's.
Martin, who has been Head Gardener for the last 30 years has
planned an entertaining walk, he said: "The grounds and gardens at
Weston Park have been my passion for many years and I find it very
satisfying to pass on my knowledge to others.
"We will be exploring not only the springtime activity of the
park but also how its inhabitants, both human and of the furry
variety, have contributed to the Park and Gardens we see
today."
The walk starts at 10.30am and costs £5.00 per adult,
£4.50 for seniors and £3.00 for children and is payable
on the day in the Granary Farm Shop.
The Granary Grill, Bar & Restaurant is open for a Sunday
Roast Lunch after the walk, reservations are advised.
