A growing Shropshire business spearheaded by an up-and-coming
young entrepreneur is celebrating its success following a move to
brand new premises.
Armstrong UEN Ltd, which designs and manufactures bespoke
Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) milling and cutting
machinery, is expanding its operations after relocating from their
former Battlefield head office to a larger office and workshop
space on the Greenwood Industrial Estate in Shrewsbury.
The company, which is the brainchild of 24-year-old entrepreneur
and University of Wolverhampton graduate Peter Richards, provides a
range of scalable, computer-controlled equipment that is ideal for
machining materials and plasma cutting metals, although it can also
be used on a variety of other materials, including plastics, woods,
waxes, light tooling materials and foams.
Peter, Managing Director of Armstrong UEN Ltd, revealed: "Our
products are compatible with any type of CAD software and enable
drawings and initial designs to be easily transformed into
prototypes, tooling, models and working parts. As well as cutting
and milling, our equipment can also be adapted to a range of other
applications, such as picking and placing products onto shelving
which makes them perfect for large retail warehouse
operations."
After starting out in business whilst studying at university,
Shrewsbury-based Peter went on to establish Armstrong UEN last June
and now works alongside Engineering Manager Ian Cliffe, a long-time
friend and fellow engineering graduate from Liverpool
University.
"The company has had a very busy, but ultimately rewarding,
first six months, so much so that we'd already outgrown our
original office. This move comes at exactly the right time for us
and the additional floor space will play an important part in the
next phase of the business's growth," Peter commented.
Peter and Ian have also received support from the University of
Wolverhampton's Student Placements for Entrepreneurs in Education
West Midlands (SPEED WM) programme, a 36-week initiative offering
training, mentoring and additional support to help budding
entrepreneurs start their own business.
