A worldwide leader in car safety features has completed its journey across Coventry.

After 11 years on Westwood Business Park, Gentex Corporation - which produces the market's best-selling auto-dimming rear view mirrors, eliminating dangerous rear-view mirror glare - has moved its UK hub to the University of Warwick Science Park's Business Innovation Centre in Binley.

Based in Michigan in the United States, the company was formed in 1974 and has since grown - along with its product range - to house over 3,000 employees throughout the US, Europe and Asia.

Robert Steel, Managing Director of its UK subsidiary, Gentex Mirrors, and Vice President of Sales in Europe, said: "Gentex manufactures auto-dimming mirrors which prevent night-time blindness caused by the headlights of vehicles behind you.

"Over the years, our product has been developed to incorporate many advanced technical features - for example, a rear camera display.

"When we were looking for new premises, the Innovation Centre ticked all the boxes for us. The style of the building reflects our company's high-tech image and its location is ideal with one of our key customers, Jaguar Land Rover, also in the area.

"On top of that, as a small team, we really appreciate the reception and admin support available to us."

Penny Robb, the Centre Manager at the University of Warwick's Business Innovation Centre in Binley, is delighted to add another renowned company to the centre's already impressive list.

It's home to a range of firms - from a specialist online recruitment company to high-tech automotive companies.

Penny said: "It is fantastic to be able to welcome a firm such as Gentex to Binley, yet another leader within the automotive industry.

"Across our centres in the region, we have a series of firms in this sector which is still very much alive and well in Coventry, Warwickshire and the West Midlands.

"We have a great deal of experience working with clients whose work involves the automotive industry and those businesses that are very much knowledge-based.

"Gentex will receive the benefits of being part of this thriving environment and, if they should need it, our wide range of business support services and facilities that make operating a business much easier."
