Allen Signs has once again proved that size doesn't matter after
successfully vinyl wrapping a 28,654 kg state-of-the-art machine
for National Road Planing Ltd (NRP), based at Rand in
Lincolnshire.
The £430,000 Wirtgen Cold Milling Machine W210 is a brand
new addition to NRP's 30-strong fleet and has a dual engine, saving
fuel and reducing emissions, and a three-speed milling
selection.
Based at NRP's Thatcham depot in Berkshire the machine will be
used on southern repair contracts, and thanks to its versatility
can be used on motorways such as the M4 corridor trunk road network
and the M25 as well as on local authority roads.
Vinyl wrapping was also a first for NRP, as Contracts Director
Jamie Town explained.
"Previously we had always opted for a straight respray but we
decided to try vinyl wrapping as it was a lot more cost-effective
in this case," said Jamie.
"We requested quotes from three suppliers but decided to use
Allen Signs as they submitted the best tender and we were very
pleased with the work they had done for us in the past.
"Their specialist vehicle livery team drew up the design and
wrapped the vehicle to a very high standard and we are so happy
with the result that we've asked them to use the same process on
another new machine."
Allen Signs Managing Director David Allen said despite the size
of the vehicle it only took them three days to complete the
job.
"Because the machine is such a specialised bit of kit we wrapped
it on site at NRP's headquarters in Rand using 3M 85 Series vehicle
wrapping film.
"Thankfully their engineering staff stripped down the machine
for us before we started so that we could get on much quicker!"
Besides road planing machines Allen Signs can wrap almost any
vehicle regardless of its shape or size.
"It can be more cost-effective than a professional respray,"
explained David, "and protects the paintwork underneath against
stone chips and minor abrasions."
"Furthermore the wrap can be fully removed at the end of the
vehicle's use, maximising the potential resale value."
