Tickets now on sale for Cosford Air Show

Tickets have this week gone on sale for one of the country's top aviation events - the 2011 Cosford Air Show.

Plans are now well under way for this year's event which will see thousands of people of all ages coming together at RAF Cosford on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border.

The 2011 show will take place on June 12 and organisers are promising a day of wonder, excitement and entertainment.

The highlight each year is a top flying display built round the regular appearance of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight of Lancaster bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane and the Red Arrows aerobatic team - both of which are already booked for this year.

The rest of the programme ranges from pre-war machines to the latest combat aircraft and last year featured the Harrier - which has now been retired from service following defence budget cuts.

Norman Branagh, Air Show Co-ordinator, said: "Tickets are now on sale for the 2011 event and we anticipate they will be selling fast.

"This year we have a few surprises up our sleeves for the aviation enthusiasts and will again be working to provide jaw-dropping performances from a variety of aerobatic display teams.

"Every year the proceeds of the event, which never fails to provide a great day of entertainment for all involved, go to the RAF and local charities."

And as well as the excitement in the air the thousands of visitors will also be able to enjoy a wide variety of entertainment on the ground with a fun fair, craft fair, market and aircraft exhibitions - as well as entry to the RAF museum.

Tickets will be £25.00 on the gate, only cash can be accepted, and are £19.00 in advance, free for children under 16 when they are accompanied by an adult.

Postal bookings should be received on or before June 5, 2011, and all major credit cards are accepted on the 24-hour Cosford Air Show Ticket Line on 0871 230 1083.

Tickets are also available from the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, Shropshire Star offices in Shrewsbury, Hereford, Newport, Bridgnorth, Oswestry and Ludlow, Tourist Information Centres in Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford and Birmingham and in Mid Counties Co-Operative stores.
