There’s mileage in local retailer’s advice

Mercedes-Benz of Leicester is well rehearsed in going the extra mile and now it's encouraging local motorists to literally do the same.

With the price of fuel escalating thanks to recent rises in VAT and oil, the St. Georges Way retailer is keen to help the region's motorists get the optimum fuel economy out of their car, whether they drive a Mercedes-Benz or not.

Paul Hands, Service Manager at Mercedes-Benz of Leicester, explained that there was no secret to maximising a car's economy and much of it relied on good maintenance and altering driving habits to suit.

"Now really is the ideal time for an economy drive and as a starter motorists need to ensure their car is in good health and regularly serviced," said Paul. "Correct tyre pressures are very important and a good tip is to limit the use of air conditioning, but they can also enhance fuel economy by reading the road and traffic ahead to try to avoid becoming completely stationary as the 'moving' energy is lost and it means more fuel is often needlessly consumed to get the car back up to speed."

Paul continued: "Avoiding harsh acceleration and sudden braking is key and as a rule, drivers want to maintain progress in the higher gears but without making the car struggle. If the conditions allow it and the car has enough torque, then you can also avoid a fuel-sapping gear change by, for example, changing from second to fourth or third to fifth."

For ultimate gains though, motorists need to assess if their vehicle is returning a level of fuel consumption that matches their needs. If not, then Mercedes-Benz of Leicester has a range of advanced, economy-enhancing BlueEFFICIENCY models that provide the ideal solution. Available across the vast majority of model lines and boasting strong residual values that help make owning a Mercedes-Benz perfect financial sense, these cars include the latest version of one of the most popular Mercedes-Benz -  the C 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY.

As with all other BlueEFFICIENCY models, the C 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY is available for test drive at Mercedes-Benz of Leicester and those who do sample the acclaimed C-Class are certain to be impressed. The diesel C-Class Saloon offers a top speed of 144mph and 0-62mph acceleration of 8.4 seconds, yet still returns an impressive 58.9mpg on the combined fuel economy cycle and emits only 127g/km CO2. The C 220 CDI Saloon also has a zero charge for its first year road fund licence and then only £90 for the annual yearly licence thereafter.

Motorists who would like to test drive a Mercedes-Benz BlueEFFICIENCY model are invited to contact the Mercedes-Benz of Leicester sales team on 0116 2511 444.
