Whilst many of the regions lovers are searching the internet for
places to dine this weekend, and comparing menus and prices, and no
doubt watching their pennies at the possible expense of a row,
those in the know are booking up somewhere a little bit
different.
Shropshire Thai restaurateur Suree Coates, has a real passion of
her own - Desserts. Suree has been creating quite a storm amongst
her many regulars who travel from as far afield as Birmingham,
Manchester, Wales and even Bristol to the unassuming converted pub,
The King and Thai Restaurant just outside Broseley, near
Ironbridge.
Diners used to travel for her fresh, authentic Thai Cuisine,
using ingredients sourced locally including fresh vegetables, and
meats from local butchers and even herbs from her own garden in the
Summer, not to mention the authentic Thai spices imported from her
home country - but now Suree has found a new passion, experimenting
with desserts. "We don't have Valentines as such in Thailand, but
to me Valentines is about bringing out the senses of love, emotion,
sharing and of course a little laughter, and great taste. I love to
play with flavours and textures, heating up Sugar caramel and
making shapes, and using the colours of white, dark and milk
chocolate, as well as fresh fruit." Suree continues "I even like to
marinade and even dry my fruits to create even more intense
flavours and colours. It's such fun to see the delight on customers
faces when they expect to be getting just another dessert, and they
see one of my creations coming out, I love peeing through the
kitchen and watching them".
This weekend Suree is keeping it simple, and maintaining her a
la carte menu, with each dish individually priced as normal, but
really treating customers with her 'Assiette of Sweet Delights'
amazing dessert selection with four individual creations to share,
for just £14 per couple.
Suree concludes 'This weekends' creations will delight any
loving couple, a fusion of light and dark chocolate as well as
refreshing citrus and cream specials, each lovingly prepared, and
decorated by hand, for each couple to enjoy - there is something
for everyone, and I suspect not enough for all - my customers
always want more!"
Suree's dessert selection will run alongside the normal a la
carte menu from Friday 11th-Monday 14th February. Limited spaces
remain.
