A charity which has appointed a new chief executive will be able
to continue to count on the support of its accountancy firm.
British Blind Sport, which helps blind and visually impaired
adults and children participate in sport, has welcomed Alaina
MacGregor as its new chief executive as it looks to build on it
success over the past 35 years.
Having employment experience in both charity work and local
government, Alaina joined the organisation having previously acted
for them on a voluntary basis in her spare time.
The charity has been in operation since 1975 and has over 600
members across the UK co-ordinated from its head office in
Tachbrook Park. Sports including archery, athletics, cricket,
football, shooting and ten pin bowling are all made accessible to
visually impaired athletes by the charity's network across the
country.
MacGregor said: "We are a grassroots organisation which helps
people identify groups that are suitable for them and to give them
the support they need to get into sport, both competitively and for
recreation only.
"We also help act as a springboard to identify elite talent due
to our close working relationships with National Governing
Bodies.
"I am looking forward to my new role and helping the charity to
build on the success of the past 35 years."
The Leamington charity is supported by another local
organisation in the shape of chartered accountants and financial
experts Harrison Beale and Owen, which has offices in Highdown
Road, and acts as the charity's auditors.
Mark Ashfield, director at Harrison Beale and Owen, said: "We
are looking forward to working closely with Alaina and to
continuing to help the charity carry out its valuable work.
"Many people have benefitted from the charity's work and we are
delighted to be able to support them."
Jo Dixson, chair of the board of trustees for British Blind
Sport, said: "I am very pleased that Alaina MacGregor has accepted
the post of CEO of British Blind Sport.
"Alaina has the drive and vision needed to take the charity
forward and strengthen our position within disability sport."
