Building contractor Speller Metcalfe has secured a major new contract to deliver a multi-million pound project to extend existing facilities at Bromsgrove School making it the largest building development in the School's 500 year history.

Already engaged to deliver a number of major works at the School's Bromsgrove site, Speller Metcalfe has now secured the final part of the works contract. The transformation of the School will include the refurbishment of existing sports facilities and the addition of a new sports complex including teaching rooms and a hospitality suite. A brand new girls' boarding house with en-suite rooms will be built as well as extensions to the existing boarding facilities. Completion is set for 2012. Speller Metcalfe will work closely with the School to deliver major and state of the art change in all existing student, teaching and sporting facilities over the next year.

Considerate Constructors Scheme Coordinator for Speller Metcalfe, Charlotte Speller, stated: "Speller Metcalfe is extremely honoured and proud to be appointed as the main contractor on such a prestigious and extensive building development project ever undertaken by Bromsgrove School."

Among the projects will be a spectacular new indoor sports arena, one of the largest any UK school has ever constructed, with seating for up to 900 people. The building will accommodate eight badminton courts and will be large enough to host regional and national indoor hockey, basketball and netball events. Interlinked via covered walkways, the new and existing buildings will be refurbished and redesigned to sit seamlessly with the new.

A new arena will be preceded by a fresh and contemporary hospitality suite which will overlook the School's netball and hockey courts, and encompass new dance studios and viewing area which will overlook the School's redesigned swimming pool.

Chris Edwards, Headmaster of Bromsgrove School said: "These stunning new facilities will enhance beyond measure the School's offer. We are thrilled to have Speller Metcalfe on site and look forward with great anticipation to the completed project."

With offices in Malvern, Gloucester and London, Speller Metcalfe continues to expand gaining a solid reputation in both conventional and Ecobuild contract build arenas.
