Great Britain's national mapping agency, Ordnance Survey, has
appointed Prolog to manage the storage and distribution of its
paper map products.
This four year contract went live at Prolog's East Midland's
storage and distribution hub in early December and Prolog's
Commercial Director Ian Dignum commented:
"We are very proud and delighted that the nation's mapping
agency has come to Prolog. They are well known for providing the
most accurate and up-to-date geographical data, which is relied
upon by governments, businesses and individuals alike"
"Over two and a half million maps are despatched each year, and
we are committed to providing the world's leading map-maker, with
impeccable fulfilment and delivery performance, that will provide a
flexible and quality service offering to thousands of shops,
information centres and other outlets who sell their range of
Ordnance Survey maps."
With over 1300 different SKUs and 500 pallets transferred to
Prolog, this has been the result of a contract won on pricing,
flexible IT solutions and a proven storage and distribution service
that already serves many well-known household names.
Peter Durnford, Ordnance Survey's Head of Print and Supply Chain
commented: "The migration of the fulfilment service to Prolog from
an in-house facility has gone very smoothly with no disruption to
delivery throughout the complex transtion process. The use of this
external service provider helps ensure the sustainability of our
paper map products and enables access to new fulfilment
technologies. We are very pleased with the service transition to
Prolog.
