De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester has launched a
computerised accounting course endorsed by Sage to meet the needs
of accounting software users.
The course has been developed in response to increasing demand
for better financial control in the economic downturn.
The Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Computerised Accounting
aims to develop a knowledge and understanding of underlying
accounting concepts and principles, alongside an ability to
evaluate and interpret them within the context of computerised
accounting.
Developed as a vocational course, computerised accounting can be
studied by distance learning and completed within two years.
The six module course takes students from basic applications to
the operational and management applications of computerised
software, with a focus on applying their skills to their work
during the learning process.
Programme leader, John Margerison, said: "This course offers an
innovative programme to employers looking to develop their staff's
knowledge of contemporary digital accounting."
The HNC in Computerised Accounting, includes a student licence
for Sage 50 software, and is now open for applications.
