The first residents of low energy, sustainable homes at Green
Street in The Meadows have started moving in.
Each new homeowner received a gourmet hamper from the nearby
Riverbank Bar & Kitchen on Trent Bridge and a unique flowerpot
painted by children from Greenfields Community School in The
Meadows.
The first two phases astonished by selling entirely off plan
three months before the first house reached completion and the
initial nine houses released from phase three were snapped up
during the first weekend on sale.
Cath Sutherland, one of the new residents, said: "We took a
gamble when we bought the house as it had not yet been built, but
it paid off and we couldn't be happier with it.
"Being an eco house, I was expecting small windows to minimise
heat loss, but this is not the case at all. Tipple glazing allows
the house to be filled with light and the temperature control
system means the place is always filled with fresh air."
The development, which is a mixture of three and four bed
contemporary town houses, comprises 38 homes in total. Designed by
Nottingham based award winning architects, Marsh Grochowski, it is
positioned next to the picturesque Victoria Gardens on the Trent
Embankment.
The scheme builds on Blueprint's core values of design driven
quality and sustainability. Features include solar photovoltaic
supplemented electricity, whole-house heat recovery, super
insulation and air tightness way above new building
standards.
The homes are priced from around £175,000 to
£235,000 and are being sold nationally by Savills via their
Nottingham office and locally by Royston & Lund in West
Bridgford.
Multi-award winning developer Blueprint, based in Nottingham,
has been responsible for two other major schemes on brown field
sites - No.1 Nottingham Science Park, off University Boulevard, and
Phoenix Square in Leicester, which comprises homes, office studios,
independent arts cinema and a café bar.
