Joining the top one per cent of those accredited, communications
agency McCann Erickson Central has been awarded the brand new Gold
Standard by accreditation board Investors in People.
Only introduced since McCann were last accredited to really set
apart the best organisations, the Gold Standard is a highly coveted
award for businesses across the country.
Exceeding the required score to achieve the top level, McCann
was praised particularly for its strategy for managing and
developing people, effective leadership and management, effective
learning and opportunities for improvement and for the value it
places on its people.
Investors in People (IIP) is a nationwide initiative that helps
organisations across the country develop performance through their
people. Of the 20,000 organisations recognised by IIP, only one per
cent achieves the Gold Standard.
Both McCann Erickson Communications House in Birmingham and
Bristol were examined as part of the process.
Eve Harvey, Executive HR Director based at McCann Erickson
Birmingham, said: "We have held accreditation since 1996 here at
McCann Erickson Communications House, but following the
introduction of the Bronze, Silver and Gold Standards, we are
incredibly proud to have achieved the Gold.
"As a creative business, we know that we are only as strong as
the creative minds that work at McCann Erickson - so nurturing our
people in both Birmingham and Bristol, helping them develop and
adapt to changes while ensuring we recognise and reward those that
achieve, is crucial."
• Among the key strengths recognised by the IIP was:
• The key focus on supportive learning and development.
• Involvement with local community, charities and business
based on giving something back, such as McCann Erickson's 7-5-1
Charity roadtrip in 2010 for Marie Curie.
• Extensive recognition and reward systems to motivate and
engage staff such as 'Employee of the Year', birthday gifts and a
weekly 15 minutes of fame initiative.
• Wide range of development opportunities covering aspects
such as on-the-job learning, graduate programmes and formal
courses.
• Demonstrable passion and pride in working at McCann.
The IIP conducted an external assessment, interviewing 20 per
cent of randomly-chosen staff across all levels and sectors.
