An award winning international engineering company is
celebrating its 30th anniversary relocating its UK business
headquarters to a new multi-million pound site in Evesham.
Matcon, formerly based in Moreton-in-Marsh and Blockley,
Gloucestershire, is the market leader in providing solutions for
handling powders and other materials in intermediate bulk
containers.
It caters for a wide range of industries including food and
pharmaceuticals and lists a host of blue chip customers such as
Nestle, Pfizer and many more.
The move to the new Vale Park West Industrial Estate on the
outskirts of Evesham, means an increase in jobs and a boost to the
local economy with around 90 people currently employed by the
company in the UK.
In the last 30 years Matcon has lead the way in its industry and
now has seven other sites around the world.
The company has bucked the economic downturn trend with an
increase in production which, its Managing Director Charles Lee
says, is down to hard work and great staff.
"Weʼve had unprecedented export success in recent years due
to our proven ability to raise our customers manufacturing
efficiency with simple changes to their process.
Now that the UK market is showing signs of recovery we expect to
see significant improvement also in the domestic market.
"All of this brings us to the point where amalgamating the UK
sites under one roof became essential and will undoubtedly enhance
our operational efficiency while at the same time providing
customers and our own team with greatly improved working, system
test and demonstration facilities."
"Evesham is a great area with an excellent pool of technical
talent, good road and rail links and all these things were taken
into account when we were considering the location."
Evesham Mayor, Councillor James Bulman, and Mid Worcestershire
MP and Minister for Defence Equipment, Support, and Technology,
Peter Luff, will perform the official opening next month with
invited guests from all over the world.
The new 2,800m2 site brings together offices, test plant,
assembly space and conference facilities which is a milestone in
the companyʼs 30 year history.
The relocation process is well underway with the new site
officially opening in early February. Due to the meticulous
planning the Company expects minimal disruption to its
customers.
