Staff from a Shropshire accountancy firm put their fitness to
the test to raise vital cash for charity.
The team from Dyke Yaxley Chartered Accountants, in Old Potts
Way, Shrewsbury, took part in a seven-hour badminton marathon and
raised over £400 for The Alzheimer's Society.
Organiser Ian Middleton, who is a member of the firm's Tax
Department, said the event was held at the Maurice Chandler Sports
Centre, near Market Drayton.
"We were particularly grateful for the sports centre's support
as they let us use the courts free of charge for our marathon,
which meant all the money we raised could go towards our charity
total.
"This is the second time we have organised this event, and this
year 15 members of staff took part, which was a fantastic
response.
"I'd like to thank everyone who joined in, and we're looking
forward to planning next year's marathon already."
Dyke Yaxley managing director, Helen Thomas, said The
Alzheimer's Society was the company's chosen charity for 2011.
"We have already organised several events to raise funds, and
the badminton marathon was the latest in a series of activities
that we hope will help us to raise an impressive total over the
coming months.
"It's excellent to see so many of our staff taking part in these
events, and the fund raising project is encouraging everyone to
think of more and more unusual ways to boost our overall
total."
