M·E·L has marked its 25th anniversary in style,
reporting its most successful year to date.
The research and consultancy specialist - which has operated
from the Science Park since its first day - has reported turnover
of £2.1 million, up 5 per cent over the previous financial
year and demonstrating a new high-water mark for the business.
Launched in 1985, M·E·L encourages companies and
service sector agencies to deliver better products to their
customers through an innovative business improvement process based
on a three-part package of 'measurement, evaluation and learning'.
The company has developed a wide-ranging list of clients that work
in national governmental agencies, local public services and the
private sector, from wastes management to healthcare, assisting
them in creating a bespoke suite of improved services based on a
better understanding of their customers' needs.
Dr Robert Pocock, chief executive, M·E·L, said:
"Our aim has always been to help our clients reach standards
of service excellence through research evidence, evaluation and
interpretation of data, demonstrating what the results really mean
for them, and highlighting positive change that they can make.
The growing reputation that we have developed for excellence
in high quality customer research has been reflected in a number of
new, high profile accounts.
"Birmingham Science Park Aston provides us with a truly
unrivalled city centre business location and all-important brand
association at the heart of Birmingham's growing knowledge quarter.
This also gives us the opportunity to further build on the
'learning' element of our business brand, by associating with the
Science Park and their close relationship to Aston University over
the last 25 years."
David Hardman, Birmingham Science Park Aston's chief executive,
said: "It is incredibly rewarding to see a company that has been
with us since its first day continuing to develop and build on its
successes and I believe that this is testament to the growing range
of facilities that we offer here at the Science Park.
"I hope to see many more companies who are currently tenants on
the site - as well as those members of our Entrepreneurs for the
Future (e4f) programme - sharing this same level of success."
As well as being one of only six companies to have been selected
to take part in the national Police opinion research framework,
M·E·L has also recently been reaccredited as an
Investor in People, receiving an additional highly commended Bronze
Award for exceeding the core requirements.
