David Brett, co founder of insurance brokers Brett &
Randall, has very sadly died at the age of 64.
A larger than life character and well known and respected in
insurance circles, David put Leicester on the insurance map. He
died at his home in Bingham, Nottinghamshire a few weeks ago and
leaves behind wife Kathy and daughter Olivia.
David, who retired from the business in 2006, founded Brett
& Randall with Stuart Randall in 1982 from premises in Melton
Road Leicester.
He began his insurance career with Robert Amphlett insurance
brokers in Nottingham before he founded DS Brett Insurance in
1972.
David was born in Nottingham and before he began his working
life in insurance, was a talented footballer and cricketer playing
professionally for Notts County and Nottinghamshire County
cricket.
Andy Underwood, the new MD at Brett & Randall who began his
career working for David, said: "People like David simply do not
exist in insurance anymore, he was an absolute one off and will be
sadly missed by his family friends and ex work colleagues".
Today Brett & Randall, the business that David founded and
guided in its early years has grown to be a successful business
employing 98 staff from its offices in Bond Street Leicester.
