Employees from Domestic & General (D&G) have been
raising money for the UK's leading children's cancer charity - CLIC
Sargent.
The team from the contact centre on Talbot Street paid £1
to come to work in casual clothes and raised over £400.
D&G topped up the amount raised so that a total of £500
was donated to CLIC Sargent.
The work the charity does has a personal meaning to Fae Straw,
Team Leader at D&G.
Fae said: "This charity means a lot to me. I lost my best friend
Hannah to a brain tumour at the age of 25 last year. During her
illness Hannah received a lot of support from her hospital and
other charities. CLIC Sargent really helped her which is why I
wanted to raise funds for them.
"It's very important for us all to realise that a small donation
can make a huge difference. Without charities such as this, my
friend wouldn't have had the vital support she needed."
The charity is there from the point of diagnosis with clinical,
practical and emotional support, helping the whole family cope with
the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and,
in some cases, bereavement.
Deborah Martin, Site Operations Manager at D&G added: "We're
delighted with the amount raised for CLIC Sargent. We take a lot of
pride in the work we do to help charities, it gives us a great
sense of team spirit. By donating £1 to dress down for the
day, the staff here can help young people and families get the help
they need at such a difficult time."
