Cup fever is being kick-started by a company that has loyally
supported Carling Cup finalists Birmingham City for 20 years and
has become the premier league champions of monster-size
advertising.
Directors and workers at graphics company Hollywood Monster
worked round the clock to produce large, eye-catching banners which
will greet thousands of excited fans as they join the queues for
cup final tickets on Monday morning (February 7).
The team, mostly Blues fans but also including supporters of
near neighbours Aston Villa, were called into action by the St
Andrew's club and produced the banners - featuring semi-final goal
scorer Craig Gardner and the slogan 'We're on our way' - inside 24
hours.
Tim Andrews is managing director of Hollywood Monster which has
declared itself Blues' biggest supporter. Tim said: "I'm a
Birmingham fan and so are the other directors and many of our
workers, so to be involved in one of the most exciting events in
the club's history is a proud moment. It may be hard to believe but
even the Villa fans here have been happy to get involved and wish
the club well.
"The banners will greet fans at the ticket office on Monday
morning and we hope they help capture the spirit of the occasion
and generate even more excitement about the trip to Wembley which
is going to be a fantastic occasion for everyone associated with
the club."
Kevin Smith, head of commercial operations at Blues, said: "This
week has been fantastic! Wembley fever has well and truly gripped
St Andrew's and it's great to see the guys at Hollywood Monster
getting right behind the team. There is a long history between
Hollywood Monster and the club and this emotive banner is a great
way for them to show support for the Blues. On behalf of everyone
at the club, I'd like to thank Tim and his team and wish them a
great day out at Wembley."
Hollywood Monster, based in Tyseley, Birmingham, has also
celebrated two decades of sponsoring the football club by producing
a 100-metre long, 4.5metre high, digitally printed hoarding which
runs the entire length of the St Andrew's pitch.
The hoarding, bearing the Hollywood Monster logo, is the largest
inside any of the 20 Premier League stadiums, according to managing
director Tim Andrews. Covering the roof of the Main Stand corporate
boxes, it is clearly visible to thousands of fans and millions of
TV viewers at every home match.
"We wanted to mark our 20th year of supporting Birmingham City
with a grand gesture and, as we're in the signs business, we
thought having the largest hoarding in the Premier League would
help us stand out from the crowd," said Tim.
"The club's had many highs and lows, and three different owners,
in the last 20 years but we've never wavered in our support so it
is fantastic to be associated with the team that could win a major
trophy at long last. It's very good of Alex McLeish and the players
to help us celebrate our loyalty to the club by reaching a Wembley
cup final for the first time since 1956!"
Many of the directors and employees at Hollywood Monster are
Birmingham City fans and have caught cup fever. They will be
travelling to Wembley later this month to see the team take on
Arsenal in the Carling Cup final. A place in the UEFA Europa League
awaits the winners.
At 100 metres long, the banner at Blues has a long way to go to
beat the company's longest ever - a 600-metre hoarding outside
Chelsea's training academy in London.
The company has invested heavily in state-of-the-art printing
technology enabling it to produce enormous banners and advertising
hoardings at high-profile sites including sports stadiums,
festivals, rock and pop concerts, shopping centres and property
developments.
