Regeneration partnership PxP West Midlands has announced that
local contractor Benniman Construction Group has commenced work on
the first phase of its £9 million speculative industrial
development at Bromsgrove Technology Park, Worcestershire, only a
few months after receiving planning permission.
One of the very first speculative developments in the West
Midlands since the beginning of the economic downturn, and the
largest project undertaken by PxP West Midlands to date, the first
phase of development features 13 units with a combination of B1, B2
(general industrial) and B8 (storage and distribution) units,
totalling 35,550 sq ft. The units will be constructed in three
blocks ranging in size from 1,400-5,300 sq ft due for completion in
summer 2011.
Additional hard standing and roads will also be laid around the
6.4 acre site in preparation for future phases, reinforcing PxP
West Midlands' commitment to the long-term programme and success of
the site. When completed, the overall scheme will offer 98,000 sq
ft of flexible industrial units together with offices and toilets,
all rated to a BREEAM 'very good' sustainable standard.
Mark Stapleton, managing director at PxP West Midlands, said:
"We are delighted that the first phase of the overall development
has started on site which will provide a range of high quality
accommodation in a well-established location. This is the first
major development for the partnership and one which will establish
the site as a major employment location bringing considerable
economic and employment benefits to the area."
Bromsgrove Technology Park is already a well-established
location for businesses, situated to the south of Bromsgrove town
centre. The development of this new scheme will address the current
lack of quality business units available in the area.
PxP West Midlands, which is a Limited Partnership between
Advantage West Midlands and Langtree, has worked very closely with
Bromsgrove District Council to bring the development
forward.
Councillor Roger Hollingsworth, Leader of Bromsgrove District
Council, said: "The development of these units at Bromsgrove
Technology Park will not only attract businesses to the region and
fill a gap in the accommodation offer for smaller businesses in
Bromsgrove, but will also be instrumental in generating over 200
jobs. PxP West Midlands' saw the potential for growth in this area
from a very early stage and that fact that they have committed to
the long-term development of the scheme is testament to this
confidence and foresight."
The site is located in a prime position off the A38 at Isidore
Road, Aston Fields, in close proximity to the M42 and M5, providing
easy access to the nearby M40 and M6.
National property and construction consultancy Wakemans is
acting as employer's agent, quantity surveyor, CDM co-ordinator and
BREEAM assessor on behalf of developer PxP West Midlands.
PxP West Midlands is marketing the speculative scheme to let or
for sale, and interested parties should contact them on 0845 054
