Numerous opportunities across a wide range of sectors have been
identified by a Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group (BCCG) trade
mission to Pakistan.
The BCCG India Pakistan Trade Unit, who are now moving on to
Islamabad after visiting Karachi, are working with UK Trade &
Investment and the Pakistan High Commission.
The visit has attracted major BCCG members and regional
businesses, including Jaguar Land Rover and Hill & Smith.
Jonathan Webber, the BCCG's director of international trade and
development, is with the group and he said: "Between 2005 - 2008 we
worked closely on a major EU project with the Karachi Chamber and
it's been a genuine delight to renew opportunities to work
together.
"And there most certainly are opportunities for business across
a wide range of sectors - including some serious infrastructure
opportunities as Pakistan continues to regroup and rebuild after
last year's devastating floods.
"Among BCCG's international specialities lies aid-funded
business - working with the major donor agencies and
non-governmental organisations and it's probable that we shall be
organising an aid-funded visit to Pakistan later this year or early
2012."
