Manufacturing plays a key role in the economy of the West
Midlands, so who could be better to speak at the re-launch of
Business XChange earlier this month at Dudley Kingswinford RFC,
than Cecil Duckworth OBE, founder of Worcester Boilers and
self-made multi-millionaire.
The Business XChange is a non-profit making local business group
based in the West Midlands, whose main purpose is to assist local
manufacturing and small businesses with support and advice by
exchanging skills, ideas and services.
The event provided an ideal forum for manufacturers and small
businesses to meet informally and share opportunities. The Business
XChange hope people who attend may, for example, find a supplier
for their company locally, cutting time and cost, things which are
vital in modern manufacturing methods.
Philip Chapman of Wall James Chappell solicitors is one of the
founders of Business XChange. He said "It's vitally important
that manufacturing in the West Midlands keeps going, it's the
bedrock that the region was built on and we are passionate to see
it continue. I hope the Business XChange will help in some
small way."
Simon Williams of Origin Financial Limited is another of the
founders of the group. Simon said "We'd be delighted to see
anyone from small business and manufacturing at this event.
We can all learn from each other and it's really important,
particularly in the current climate that we all work together".
Margot James, Stourbridge MP who also sits on the select
committee for Business Innovation and Skills and successful
business woman in her own right, will be the guest speaker for the
next event in April.
