Businesses on the Brackmills Industrial Estate have already had
their say this year - with more than 300 employees requesting and
now set to receive regular community news, estate updates and
electronic newsletters throughout 2011.
Over 150 businesses on the estate took part in an employee
survey at the end of 2010, with everyone asked what type of news
they would like to receive in 2011 and how they would like to read
about it.
Top of the wish list was community news - such as charity
initiatives and information on businesses new to the estate - as
well as transport and estate security updates.
Over two thirds requested electronic newsletters, with just
under half pointing to the estate's website as a pivotal means of
communication.
Katrina Flunder, who chairs the new Brackmills Communications
Committee and is also Learning and Development Manager at iPSL,
explained: "Eighteen months ago Brackmills became Northampton's
first Business Improvement District (BID) and resident businesses
now pay a small levy into a collective pot which is earmarked
solely for estate improvement and investment. As members of a BID
it is essential we all communicate with each other and share our
collective successes. That is why we wanted feedback from employees
across the estate and why we are already acting on what people have
told us they want."
In response to the survey feedback the estate's website, has
been updated to incorporate a new swap shop and business profile
section, for companies to list their own vacancies, news and
events.
The first issue of the all-new Brackmills Life named
e-newsletter has also been sent out to estate employees this month
- featuring requested information such as estate updates, a
Business of the Month section and events calendar.
Chairman of the Brackmills BID board, John Corrigan, added:
"Since becoming a Business Improvement District Brackmills has
cultivated a real sense of community spirit and corporate
co-operation, and communicating well with each other has already
proved to be at the heart of this.
"We are excited to be harnessing the energy and passion of our
businesses and are well on our way to re-establishing Brackmills as
the premier business and logistics park in the UK."
