The Apprentice star Chris Bates is to visit De Montfort
University (DMU) in Leicester this week to inspire students and
members of the public seeking careers in the creative
industries.
As the youngest person ever to reach the final of the BBC's hit
series The Apprentice, Chris Bates is this year's special guest at
the annual Creative Industries Careers Fair on Wednesday (23
February).
The Creative Industries Careers Fair will be held in DMU's
Queens Building from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
As part of his visit Chris will be networking with exhibitors
and delegates as well as talking to student radio Demon FM and
recording two podcasts - one about the graduate recruitment process
and another about the importance of enterprise.
Chris was the runner up in the 2010 series of The Apprentice.
After successfully being picked from more than 40,000 applicants
Chris described the experience as the most challenging, testing,
yet fun time of his life.
"It was effectively a 12-week insight into all facets of
business, as well as being the world's toughest job interview,"
said Chris.
The process taught him invaluable lessons both professionally
and personally. Throughout his journey to the final he illustrated
a natural flair for a variety of business disciplines including:
sales; marketing; negotiating; leadership; ability to handle
pressure; and entrepreneurial flair.
Prior to appearing on The Apprentice Chris worked for JP
Morgan's commodities sales desk having completing a degree in
politics and American studies.
