Road
Specialist social housing developer William Davis Ltd has
formally signed contracts with Orbit Homes, the development arm of
housing association Orbit Group, to begin the construction of 57
new affordable homes in Stratford-upon-Avon. This is the first
project to be awarded to the company under a new framework
agreement with Orbit Homes.
The £4.6m development on Glebe Road, which has been part
funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) will replace 38
existing concrete homes and be built to achieve Code for
Sustainable Homes level 4, incorporating the latest sustainable
design features. The homes will all be available for rent and will
be managed by Orbit Heart of England.
Matt Colloby, business development manager, William Davis said:
"We are delighted to have been awarded our first scheme through
Orbit's Contract Framework Agreement and are looking forward to
working together on this exciting regeneration project to ensure
the longevity of the Glebe Road community."
Chris Jones, Midlands' development director, Orbit Homes said:
"This scheme will see the regeneration of Glebe Road, replacing
unity houses, which are no longer fit for purpose, with new
eco-homes. We are looking forward to working with William Davis on
this scheme as one of our newly appointed framework
contractors."
The initial phase of the five phase scheme is due to commence
shortly, with the entire project scheduled for completion in
December 2012. The new homes have been designed to achieve 'Secured
by Design' standards which focus on crime prevention and will be
built to meet 'Lifetime Homes' criteria, helping to support the
changing needs of residents.
